Abbotsford House Visitors’ Centre

Crannog Construction Ireland was commissioned to build the new Visitors’ Centre for Abbotsford House – the former residence of historical novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott.  This grass-roofed, timber-framed, steel-less structure will act as a major tourist attraction for Melrose and the Scottish Borders upon its completion in Summer 2012.  Working in conjunction with Border Construction we have been able to deliver this high-spec, state-of-the-art visitor attraction to enhance the accessibility of Scottish built heritage.

Mary Erskine School, Edinburgh

Robert Burns Museum

We recently completed a public contract for the National Trust in which we fabricated a large timber framed and clad building to commemorate the birthplace of Scotland’s bard.  This excellent showcase piece of work was completed on time and on budget while also collaborating with a number of other contractor companies on-site.

Robert Burns Birthplace Museum Footbridge

The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum Footbridge was completed on schedule for the Scottish bard’s birthday, despite the adverse weather conditions.

Vindolanda

Vindolanda is a Roman auxiliary fort that had been built just south of Hadrian’s Wall.  Crannog Construction Ireland was commissioned by a local contractor to erect the Hedley Building – a stunning modern facility, located in the Vindolanda Museum driveway.  It was built to accommodate the archaeologists excavating at the nearby fort. An extensive restoration project was also carried out on the Vindolanda museum itself, as well as a replica Roman fort.

Berwickshire High School, Duns

Crannog Construction Ireland was commissioned by a local authority in Duns, Berwickshire – the heart of the Scottish Borders, to out-fit their newly built secondary school.  A comprehensive project, we successfully completed a wide range of 1st and 2nd fix joinery, acoustic ceilings, sound-proofing of music rooms and steam-bending handrails to accommodate the contours of the building.
